Dual gold and photoredox catalysis: visible light-mediated intermolecular atom transfer thiosulfonylation of alkenes.

چکیده
Regioselective difunctionalization of alkenes has attracted significant attention from synthetic chemists and has the advantage of introducing diverse functional groups into vicinal carbons of common alkene moieties in a single operation. Herein, we report an unprecedented intermolecular atom transfer thiosulfonylation reaction of alkenes by combining gold catalysis and visible-light photoredox catalysis. A trifluoromethylthio group (SCF3) and other functionalized thio groups together with a sulfonyl group were regioselectively introduced into alkenes in the most atom economical manner. A detailed mechanism study indicated that a synergistic combination of gold catalysis and photoredox catalysis is crucial for this reaction.

متن کاملCascade photoredox/gold catalysis: access to multisubstituted indoles via aminoarylation of alkynes.
A new method for the synthesis of 3-arylindoles has been developed by visible light mediated dual gold/photoredox catalysis. This transformation has many features such as cascade catalysis, high efficiency, redox-neutral reaction conditions and good functional group tolerance. The reaction proceeds through the photoredox-promoted formation of an electrophilic arylgold(iii) intermediate that und...
متن کاملDirect, enantioselective α-alkylation of aldehydes using simple olefins.
Although the α-alkylation of ketones has already been established, the analogous reaction using aldehyde substrates has proven surprisingly elusive. Despite the structural similarities between the two classes of compounds, the sensitivity and unique reactivity of the aldehyde functionality has typically required activated substrates or specialized additives. Here, we show that the synergistic m...
متن کاملVisible-light-induced synthesis of a variety of trifluoromethylated alkenes from potassium vinyltrifluoroborates by photoredox catalysis.
A facile synthesis of trifluoromethylated alkenes by the radical-mediated trifluoromethylation of vinyltrifluoroborates has been developed. Togni's reagent serves as a CF(3) radical precursor in the presence of the photoredox catalyst [Ru(bpy)(3)](PF(6))(2) under visible light irradiation. This new photocatalytic protocol can be applicable to a wide variety of vinylborates containing electronic...
متن کاملFree Radical Chemistry Enabled by Visible Light-Induced Electron Transfer
Harnessing visible light as the driving force for chemical transformations generally offers a more environmentally friendly alternative compared with classical synthetic methodology. The transition metal-based photocatalysts commonly employed in photoredox catalysis absorb efficiently in the visible spectrum, unlike most organic substrates, allowing for orthogonal excitation. The subsequent exc...
